Committed to Bringing Hope and Trust to North Lawndale

Fuel Movement is a community center serving those who reside in North Lawndale, Chicago.

Our mission is to help North Lawndale youth and families live happier, healthier, and safer lives.

I grew up in North Lawndale seeing my mother welcome neighbors in need. She showed me that community means showing up for each other, always.

As a pastor here, I faced a hard truth: years of broken promises left my neighbors without hope or trust. Young people couldn't imagine a future. Families struggled for basics. Seniors felt forgotten.

North Lawndale didn't just need more programs—it needed a transformation of heart and spirit. It needed someone willing to rebuild trust, relationship by relationship.

I asked myself: if not me, who?

My mother taught me, "When someone's hurting, you walk toward them, not away." This belief—that everyone deserves dignity and opportunity—guides everything at the Fuel Movement Center.

Today, I'm creating the North Lawndale my mother believed in. A place of mutual support. Where children know their worth. Where hope is real.

This isn't easy work. Trust is earned daily. But seeing families gather, teenagers find their voice, and generations connect tells me we're building something meaningful.
