Committed to Bringing Hope and Trust to North Lawndale

Fuel Movement is a community center serving those who reside in North Lawndale, Chicago.

Fuel Movement Community Center was recently featured on CBS News Chicago, sharing the incredible story behind their mission to empower families and transform lives on the West Side.

The CBS spotlight focused on Vice President Robert Robinson, whose early life was marked by hardship. Growing up, Robinson faced abandonment, abuse, and homelessness, moving through 30 foster homes by the age of 13. With no hope for the future, he struggled to survive until one life-changing connection turned everything around.

Pastor Darrell Glover, founder of Fuel Movement and leader of Prayer Changes Things Ministries, became Robinson’s foster parent after completing his foster care certification. Refusing to believe the narrative that Robinson was beyond help, Glover saw potential and heart in the young teen. Their bond would eventually lead to the creation of Fuel Movement Community Center.

Through the Center, Glover and Robinson are working to bring healing, unity, and opportunity to the North Lawndale community. Their programs—such as Lunch on Us events, community cleanups, and family outreach initiatives—build support systems for children, families, and seniors alike.

The CBS feature also shared the emotional story of Robinson’s daughter, Angel, who passed away at 15 from a rare cancer. In her final message, she urged others to "never give up," a mantra that now serves as the driving force behind Fuel Movement’s work.

Fuel Movement Center continues to expand its impact. They will host a free mattress giveaway for families in need on Saturday, November 25, at 4244 W. Cermak Rd., starting at noon. They are also launching a fundraiser to purchase two passenger vans to transport seniors and youth to field trips and community events.

We are proud to have our story shared with the Chicago community and beyond. Thank you to CBS News for helping us spread a message of hope, resilience, and transformation.
